A Pagen Tree Festival!

So even on the greatest of festivals of glutony I managed to get a little something done! It may have been that I built the lego set that my girlfriend brought me (I promise that it counts as creative work playing with coloured bricks!) and watched the entire of the first season of Wilfred (which for the record is amazing!) with my brother eating my body weight in chocolate but at least it's something I suppose!

Gorilla Panic!!

Today has been a slow one though in the interest of always writing something each day I composed a "to do" list and there's a lot!

I also decided to book myself on the TV writers summit with Raindance despite my bad experiences with them in the past (http://www.raindance.org/course/tv-writers-summit/) I'm hoping that it will give me some chance to work through Aftercare ideas before heading to the NFTS for their writing the pilot course the following week and maybe even pitch it to a few people to get reactions and feedback. At £280.80 it wasn't cheap for a two dayer but thinking that it might be a good investment.

Other than that ticking over The Forgotten Daughter of Earth but have reached something of an impasse in Act II (Act III is kinda written though so it's not all that bad!) I think that watching a few things similar to what I'm going for might help so have got hold of copies of Moon and Shutter Island to try and get the sawdust wet! It has to be done by Jan 24th otherwise I won't make the deadline for the Blue Cat online seminar I'm a-part of!

Also decided last night to read the screenplay for Ted - worth it just for this line:

TED
It's called Mind Rape. It's actually pretty mellow.

JOHN
It doesn't sound very mellow.

TED
Well, he only had three other batches, Gorilla Panic, They're coming, They're coming and something called This is Permanent.

Had me ROFLing throughout - you can get a copy for free here:

Anyhow, off to watch the afternoon rugger now and see if I can find me some Gorilla Panic!

Peace,

- Ted

PS - Have some good news but due to current news embargo can't let it out - watch this space on the 3rd Jan for updates!

Enter the Pitch - Suspense!

Today myself and creative partner Chris Richards find out if we've made the cut for the 'Enter The Pitch' film competition with our projects Between Lambs and Lions and The Talents - fingers crossed!!

Let it begin!!

So the world didn't end this morning and it inspired me to start writing a blog on my adventures in screenwriting (everyone else seems to have one so why can't I?!) To friends who might one day stumble across this doesn't mean that I'm going to start being nice to everyone and not kicking puppies and giving money to homeless people (or even giving money to puppies and not kicking homeless people) I'm just trying to use this blog to effectively bully myself to be doing some work each day rather than hoping that each morning when I wake up it'll just happen.

So why 4 Pages or More? Well that's the goal for each day until the end of this year (2013) when I'll finally can the dream of being a writer and get a real job, start earning some money and maybe even get serious with life. Four (4) pages really doesn't sound a lot does it but often these will be pages conjured up from thin air, or less, and believe me it's an uphill battle sometimes to get them out. Some days it won't happen and I'll just be mashing my head against the keyboard hoping to fill some blank space but at least I'll have four pages!!

Other than that I'm hoping that there might once or twice be a smattering of good stuff about writing theory or something that someone might find useful in their own quest to get noticed as a writer amongst the ranting about how tired/stressed/angry/bored/hungover/under-caffinated/over-caffinated/lost/confused I am, or all of the above at once.

Anyhow today is the 21/12/2012, or the day the Mayans had to admit that this was all a big tourism scam, and 365 days from now I'll either have a film deal or it'll be my last post and then I'll admit defeat and leave you all alone!

peace,

- Ted
